2023 Design Trends

As 2022 winds down, I have been thinking a lot about 2023. Personally, I always end the year with some time spent alone dreaming about the coming year. The things I would like to attempt, things I hope to achieve, and the one word I want to carry with me through the year!

As I am a pretty visual person, I like to do this in the form of a Mood Board. Much like I do when I create a design direction board for my client projects, I select images, words, and other visuals to set the foundation for the year ahead. It’s something I look forward to at the end of every year!

As the year comes to a close, I’ve decided to make my own predictions on Design Trends I think we are going to see a lot more of in 2023!

Metal Range Hoods, with Movement!

Reds, Magentas and Corals

I am sure we have all seen the Pantone 2023 colour of the year “Viva Magenta,” but I am putting my money on more muted shades of red and coral. Needless to say, let’s expect the continued use of a lot more of this punchy colour!

Closed Concept Living

I think we are going to see more and more people lean toward closed concept living spaces. Let’s not completely rule out open concept, and maybe expect things to transition slowly be it through open archways, transom windows and other architectural elements, but the compartmentalized home is making a come back. Blanc Marine Intérieurs added walls back into a recent project of theirs to play up the functionality of divided spaces!

Millwork & Architectural Details

Detailed trim work, wall moldings, elaborate built-ins, archways > doors that divide spaces, coffered ceilings and more!

Happy Holiday Season!

I think we will also see the continued use of wallpaper, fabric wall-coverings and the ever inspiring English Cottage interior style!

Wishing everyone a happy Holiday Season and best wishes for the New Year! I am looking forward to all the beautiful growth 2023 will have in store!
